It’s another full weekend of NBA basketball, with 13 games set for Friday, six for Saturday, and eight for Sunday to close it out. There have already been some teams setting themselves apart in their respective conferences, like the Lakers & Utah in the West, and Detroit in the East. There have also been some early surprises. Atlanta is 3-0 heading into their Friday showdown with Toronto, and on the opposite end, the Clippers are 0-5 despite adding Baron Davis and Marcus Camby to the lineup in the offseason. All of the aforementioned teams will be in action this weekend. Here is a look at some of the games on tap along with our weekly feature highlighting Top StatFox Power Trends that should be in play.

The Friday slate is highlighted by the ESPN doubleheader. At 7:00 PM ET, the Heat visit the Spurs. Miami has scored, and played well overall at home in two wins but has struggled in its two road contests. The Spurs are just 1-3 after four games and need a win to avoid falling in a deeper hole early in the season. The late game on the Worldwide Leader in Sports is Dallas taking on Denver. The Nuggets are already three games back in the Northwest Division and will be welcoming to the lineup their new point guard Chauncey Billups, obtained in a blockbuster trade for Allen Iverson on Tuesday. In other key Friday games, Atlanta hosts Toronto, and Phoenix continues its Eastern Conference road trip with a stop in the Windy City.

On Saturday, the top game finds Chicago hosting Cleveland in a rematch of Wednesday’s contest won by the host Cavaliers, 107-93. The Suns are also in action again, and will be playing the second game in a road back-to-back at Milwaukee. The Bucks are 3-2 in the early going and showing signs of being much improved over a year ago. The Heat are also on a back-to-back, and in a situation tougher than Phoenix. Miami plays at New Orleans, less than 24 hours after they will have taken on the Spurs in San Antonio. Adding to the Heat’s challenge is the fact that the Hornets have dominated the head-to-head series over the years.

Sunday’s board features eight games, including three afternoon starts. Highlighting that set of games is Utah’s trip to Madison Square Garden to take on the new-look Knicks. Of course, all of those games pale in comparison to the showdown set for Sunday evening between Houston and the Lakers. The Rockets suffered their first loss of the season on Brandon Roy’s buzzer beating shot Thursday in Portland. Going into the weekend, the Lakers were unbeaten and easily playing the best basketball in the NBA. However, if you scan to the final trend on this weekend’s Top StatFox Power Trends, you’ll see the Rockets might have an edge come Sunday.

Without further ado, here are those top trends to consider when putting together your NBA bets for the weekend.
